Automobiles and Motorcycles

Automobiles, or motorcars, are highly sophisticated technical systems that have been developed over decades. They are used for transportation, commerce, and pleasure. There are many different types of automobiles, including motorcycles.

Automobiles are made from thousands of parts. These components are highly technical and require a highly skilled workforce to manufacture. Many auto manufacturers employ scientists, engineers, and research and development experts to develop new technologies and improve the design of their vehicles.

During the early twentieth century, the American automobile industry dominated the world market. However, Japanese automakers began to gain a foothold in the U.S. Auto production soared in Japan after World War II.

In the 1970s, the price of gasoline rose. The automobile industry began to suffer from the oil shortage. As a result, consumers relied on imported autos more. By the 1980s, the U.S. and other countries began to develop stricter standards for the manufacturing of cars.

During the early 1980s, the auto companies were suffering greatly. Automakers lobbied against the creation of safety regulations.

One of the best ways to reduce the number of injuries caused by automobiles is to require automakers to design safer cars. However, these regulations only go so far.

The most important safety standard is seat belts that attach across the lap and the shoulder. Research shows that these can significantly reduce the rate of fatalities from motor vehicle accidents.

Auto manufacturers improve the engine, body, chassis, and safety systems. New technologies and regulations are also introduced.
