Entertaiment
The clown at a birthday party, the Broadway show, the stadium rock concert, your friends fighting over that last potato chip-all are forms of entertainment. The word entertain comes from the Latin inter tenere, which means “hold inside.” It’s related to hospitality-keeping guests happy and content-and it also has the meaning of distracting or amusing.
Entertaiment helps us break away from the mundane and re-energize ourselves. It is important to have some time for self-entertainment as we all get busy chasing a promotion at work or trying to keep our family together. Many forms of entertainment hit on themes that the human brain was evolved to react deeply to like backstabbing, murders and other social issues.
