What is Technology?

Technology is a branch of knowledge that deals with engineering and applied science.

In many ways, technology has been the driving force of human history and our world as we know it today. It has greatly changed how we communicate, write, compute, bank, operate businesses, conduct research and even wage war.

There is a lot of confusion over the actual definition of technology and how it works. It is usually defined as a set of techniques, tools and methods used to produce products, solve problems or satisfy needs.

Often, the word technology is mistakenly equated to gadgets such as mobile phones, computers, big TVs, HiFi systems and cars. But while these may be the most well-known aspects of modern technology, technology is much more complex than that.

Technology is a tool that allows us to do things faster and easier than we could ever have imagined. It can also help us save money and time by doing tasks that would otherwise require a lot of manual work.

As technology advances, so does our knowledge of how to use it and its potential effects on society and the environment. However, it can also cause environmental pollution and deplete resources and has the potential to lead to social harms such as technological unemployment. This causes philosophical and political debates over the role of technology in society, its ethics and how to mitigate its negative effects.
